Kyrgyzstan’s cities and the Issyk-Kul shore are well covered; the high valleys, lakes and passes where most treks go are not. Install a travel eSIM at home and switch it on when you land. AirOva sells Kyrgyzstan plans from $1.49: fixed-GB plans, unlimited data and data + calls plans, all on Beeline — each plan card lists its network.
GB plans suit most trips, because the best days are spent out of range: about 3 GB covers a week in Bishkek and around Issyk-Kul, 5 GB two weeks with treks and 10–15 GB a full summer season. Unlimited plans give unlimited data with no data cap and no fair-usage limit, priced by the number of days, for long stays or remote work in Bishkek. Data + calls plans add call minutes to mobile data. GB and unlimited plans are data-only.
Our plans run on Beeline. Beeline is one of the three main operators alongside MegaCom and O!, and a plan card that shows Sky Mobile means Beeline, since Sky Mobile is the company behind the Beeline brand in Kyrgyzstan. 4G is excellent in Bishkek and Osh and good in Karakol and along the north shore of Issyk-Kul, while the south shore is spottier. Main highways have intermittent signal, the Alay Valley little or none, and Song-Kul, Tash-Rabat and Jyrgalan no coverage at all.
Manas International Airport, 25 km from Bishkek, is the main gateway. Osh International (OSS) serves the south. After landing, turn off airplane mode, switch the eSIM line on, choose it for mobile data and enable Data Roaming for that line; the plan is prepaid, so roaming adds no charge. Local SIM kiosks need a passport and may be closed for late arrivals, and an eSIM installed at home skips both.
Treks to Song-Kul or Jyrgalan put you out of range for days, and signal degrades fast above the treeline and inside national parks such as Ala-Archa. Before leaving any city, download offline maps and your GPX routes, save horse-trek and yurt-camp contacts offline, and tell someone your route and return date. Our Kyrgyzstan eSIM guide goes valley by valley.
Tip: Power cuts are common in rural areas, so carry a power bank and charge everything whenever you can. Keep your home SIM in for bank codes, with data roaming off.
